By Ryan Butterly

Hands trailing flinch by flinch

As the hair raises in contempt

Rough touches leave you bruised like kisses

Placing trust in his distrust

Words litter your skin

Falling cold and hard in your sin

Eyes lock tight no escape

Kissing those lips that sealed your faith

And with each I love you

The bricks crumble around you

Walls built years upon years

Now dusting your battle worn feet

This time it’s different

He won’t hurt me

People can change

Finally ready to be happy

You whisper it to trees

To birds, humans and bees

I am happy

With every kiss you whisper please

That this is the one

A soul mate and you have won

Not just another cruel tease
